Tagging can run in this browser or on the server. The server option is for when you want the job to keep going after you leave this page (for example, you started the scan and closed the tab). The browser option is simplest when you are staying here and want everything to happen in this tab. Pick based on whether you need to walk away or stay and watch.

Scans only new images (not yet on SmugMug) and un-scanned images (not yet processed). Already-tagged or already-scanned images are skipped to reduce cost. This setting resets after each scan.

Most races can leave this as default. Fine-tune how bib characters are detected if needed (saved to your account).

Only keywords within the tag markers are replaced. Other keywords are preserved.
Removes all existing keywords and replaces them with tag data generated by this tool only.
Special tags
Wraps keywords with the markers RP_TAG and RP_TAG_E so this tool can manage them in future jobs.
Keywords will be written without markers. You will not be able to manage these keywords in future jobs unless the entire keyword field is wiped.

These settings apply to your next scan and tag run for the album you selected. Most of the time, the defaults here are fine. You can add or change bib-to-name mapping later without an extra fee.

Bib format (scanning)

The default works well for most races. Changing this may improve results slightly for events where bibs are strictly numeric (for example, large road races). You can also change this anytime under Settings.

In numeric-only mode, the scanner still looks for the special keyword PACER on bibs so those reads aren’t lost.

Bib format
Letters and digits are both accepted as bib characters (for example A1, 42B).
Only digits 0-9 are expected on bibs, plus the special keyword PACER when it appears—so pacing-style bibs stay readable. Choosing this option may improve scan accuracy for races with numeric-only bibs.
This setting is saved to your account and applies to all future scans.
